Restore Maine is being organized as a Maine nonprofit public benefit corporation for charitable and educational purposes and will apply to the Internal Revenue Service for recognition of exemption under Section 501(c)(3). If recognition is granted, contributions made on or after the date of incorporation are deductible to the extent permitted by law. Restore Maine does not support or oppose candidates for public office. Mainers First, a separate 501(c)(4) organization, conducts advocacy; contributions to it are not deductible as charitable contributions.
