Maine works when its people govern themselves, earn their own way, and can walk their own streets in safety.
What we are

- Nonpartisan by charter. We do not endorse or oppose candidates. We teach, we study, and we build.
Our purposes
These are the purposes written into the Articles of Incorporation. The organization is organized and operated for these and nothing else.
Civic education about the institutions of representative democracy, constitutional self-government, individual liberty, and the rule of law.
Economic education about free enterprise, private property, and voluntary exchange.
Research and public education about public safety and the administration of justice in Maine.
Research, public education, and charitable help addressing homelessness, with distinct strategies for people with serious mental illness, people with addiction or involvement in the criminal justice system, and people who are unemployed and without housing.
Grants to other charities that advance these purposes.
Community chapters and chapter funds, so that a gift can be restricted to charitable and educational programs serving a particular Maine community.

Governance
Restore Maine is a Maine nonprofit public benefit corporation. It has no members, so the board of directors is accountable for everything the organization does.
The organization operates under bylaws, a conflict of interest policy, chapter operating rules, and a charter for each chapter.
A chapter has no legal existence separate from the organization, and all property held for a chapter is the property of the organization. One organization, one set of books.
A gift designated for a chapter fund is held as a restricted fund and administered according to the donor's restriction and the Maine Uniform Prudent Management of Institutional Funds Act.
Nonpartisan by charter.
That comes from the Articles of Incorporation, which commit the organization to charitable and educational work and bar it from intervening on behalf of or in opposition to any candidate for public office.
